SCEGGS at Darlinghurst have undertaken some major renovations and, with the help of donors and supporters, achieved a magnificent result that propels this important Sydney school into the future. They wanted to acknowledge their donors in a special way, one befitting the magnificence of the entry to the new building. A timber book with engraved names was devised. We designed a contemporary lectern for the book to sit on.
Our industrial designer had to come up with a sturdy yet minimalist design; we think he nailed it! Once the design was approved, it was handed to our timber craftsman to produce the piece with precision and expertise. Then off to the laser engraving department to laser engrave gloss black coated brass with the hundreds of donors' names, then insert the panels into the timber pages to form "The donors' acknowledgement book"
The entire piece is made from Australian Spotted Gum; it's one we are so proud of.
