FIRST GOVERNMENT HOUSE, SYDNEY

The First Government House was the first residence for the Governors of New South Wales located at 41 Bridge Street, in the Sydney central business district in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia.

We are proud to be a part of this historic location when we permanently engraved the Bridge Street pavers. We have used our CNC Autoblaster to engrave these pavers 2mm depth and paint fill them in black colour. This artwork was etched across multiple pavers and matched accurately to each other making them into one continuous image.

These pavers are permanently embedded on Bridge Street.

MULTI PAVER ENGRAVING

This artwork was engraved on multiple pavers with an image of a line drawing of the Governors Domain.

All the details in this artwork were preserved carefully and each paver was matched to create one continuous image. The whole image was etching perfectly even and with 2mm depth and paint filled black.

MULTI PAVER MATCHING

We understand how important it is to get accurate results for these projects. When you give us your image/artwork and if you were also to supply sizing for in between each paver for the grout, we will match it the way these pavers will be layed on-site.

So the image will never be distorted or stretched. The spacing will be compensated in the artwork and before we engrave them, we will double check every measurement and ensure the artwork flows through each paver accurately.

How we do it

We sue specialised Sandblasting systems including automatic CNC sandblasters, Cabinet systems or Mobile onsite dustless blasters.

Couple that with ProBlast Sandblasting vinyl masking or PhotoMask Polymer Resist to create precision stencils with high point accuracy. The Photomasks allow for sharp detail at small sizes allowing fine detail work including great-looking photographic images.

What we can engrave

We can engrave any type of stone regardless of finish - Honed or exfoliated.

Granite, Marble, Quartz, Limestone, Basalt, Slate, Sandstone, Travertine, River Stone, and Stone Tiles. If it is not listed here we can probably engrave it.

We can engrave anything into stone such as text, logos, drawings, and photographic images.

How deep is the engraving?

We normally etch to about 1mm but can etch deeper upon request. 1mm is actually pretty deep even though it does not sound like it. As a general rule, you should not engrave deeper than the etching is wide.

Let’s say your font is about 2mm wide. If you etch to 3mm depth it can look distorted. We are experts at stone engraving and consider the best solution for your engraving needs.

The contrast effects of different coloured stone

When you etch into stone the colour of the etching is usually lighter than the surface. It comes out a frosted finish. If you have a dark stone the etching comes out lighter and contrasts nicely.

If you have a light coloured stone the etching comes out lighter and doesn't contrast with the stone surface and engraving can be hard to read. We recommend paint filling for light-coloured stone.

Coating stone etching

We use quality outdoor-grade epoxy paints for paint filling your projects when paint filling is required. We can PMS colour match any colour. We lay a sealer down first to ensure a good bond.

Another option available is to apply a slip-rated sealer onto a wide area of stone etching for when the stone is going to be walked on.

Gold Leaf Gilding is also an option (albeit and expensive option)

How big a piece can we engrave?

Pretty much any size can be etched as long as we can move it. We don’t use cranes, just forklifts and strong trolleys.

Our sandblasting equipment size limitation is about 1200mm wide buy almost any length. Sizes larger than 1200mm wide can still be etched with our portable sandblasting equipment
