3M Vehicle Compliance Plates

3M™ 7848 is a laser-markable polyimide label material. When marked with a fibre laser, it produces a crisp, permanent black image without the need for inks or ribbons.

The polyimide film itself is approx. 2 mils (0.05 mm) thick. With adhesive and liner included, the total construction is about 6–7 mils (0.15–0.18 mm).

Extremely durable. They are resistant to heat, abrasion, solvents, and harsh chemicals, making them suitable for the most demanding environments.

The 3M high-performance adhesive allows it to bond securely to metals, plastics, and other smooth or lightly textured surfaces.

3M™ 7848 offers lighter weight, flexible application, and excellent chemical resistance where metal tags may be too heavy, rigid, or costly. For extreme mechanical impact resistance, stainless steel may still be preferred.
