Scope of Work
Premier Awards was engaged to create interpretive signage for the Scented Garden, using circular pieces of beautiful Hawkesbury sandstone. These signs were designed to complement the natural environment while providing visitors with durable, easy-to-read information. The project required precise sandblast engraving and paint-filled lettering that could withstand outdoor conditions while enhancing the aesthetic qualities of the sandstone.
Production
Sandstone can be challenging to engrave due to its varying densities within a single piece and the difficulty of achieving reliable adhesion for masking materials. To overcome this, our team used specialised masks and controlled sandblasting techniques that allow for accurate, even engravings across the stone’s surface. Each circular panel was carefully prepared, blasted, and paint-filled with high-grade epoxy to create crisp, legible detail. This ensured the signs not only delivered a professional finish but also retained their clarity and durability in an outdoor garden setting.
Capability
Premier Awards has the expertise and equipment to engrave sandstone and other natural materials, where consistency is often challenging to achieve. By combining advanced masking solutions with our CNC AutoBlaster, we achieve high-quality results across a range of stone surfaces that vary in hardness and texture. Our craftspeople are skilled in balancing precision with sensitivity to the natural character of each stone, allowing us to deliver interpretive and commemorative signage that is both durable and visually striking. This project showcases our ability to manage technically challenging stone engravings while maintaining exceptional presentation and long-term durability.
