2D means when the image to be etched is flat. 3D means when the image is not flat. A 3D image is in the form of a physical shape such as a Sailing boat, a Crane, helicopter or person.

Internal Engraving is achieved by direct two laser beams to a focal point inside the optically clear crystal. Where these beams meet inside the crystal a tiny internal crack is made. The image is formed by thousands of tiny cracks precisely placed into the crystal.

Internal Engraving

Internal Engraving means the engraving is done on the inside of the crystal. This is achieved by using a special laser engraving machine that focuses it impact point beneath the surface of crystal. The beam focus point generates an impact creates a tiny crack inside the crystal. Thousands of tiny internal cracks are what creates the engraving. Cool Hey!.

What's 2D internal Engraving?

2 Dimensional Sub Surface Engraving is done below the surface in two dimensions along one plane - left and right.(X and Y axis). It is a typical flat plane engraving like the sample to the right.

It’s just like normal surface engraving, but it’s actually below the surface. The engraving is inside the crystal and it can be placed on different levels such as logo to the back, text forward.

What's 3D Internal Engraving?

3 Dimensional Sub Surface Engraving is done below the surface in three dimensions. This creates a fascinating sub surface image. When viewed from any angle the intricate design appears like a three dimensional sculpture. (See image at right.)
